Testing Power amps with Apx

APx is the only power amp tester designed to serve the needs of multichannel power amp manufacturers with features no other test solution can offer.

CEA-2006 / CEA-490A measurements
Measure continuous maximum output and peak maximum output automatically, view power spectrum graphs with a regulated frequency sweep and take other measurements as specified by the CEA-2006 and CEA-490A standards.
Convenient automation & new features
Determine optimum reference output level for your device under test using automatic regulation to find the level of the signal generator at either the point of lowest THD+N or your target value of THD+N, such as 1%. The new APx software ships with a Measurement Recorder for repeated stress tests over time, multitone analysis and an expanded list of high and low pass filters.
Multichannel switch mode (Class D ) Amplifiers
The optional APx581 is 8-channel passive low-pass filter designed to minimize switching amplifier carrier components while passing a broad audio spectrum. This filter provides the signal preconditioning necessary to accurately measure switching amplifier outputs using a wide-range audio analyzer.

Testing DVD / CD / MP3 players with APX

Surround sound and playback only devices such as DVD / CD / MP3 players pose unique challenges to audio test instruments. APx solves the problems with automated test sequences and external loop test capability.

Testing Playback-only devices
Many of today’s most popular audio players lack any input. To test these devices, APx uses a set of reference signals that can be played back in multiple formats. APx ships with a Reference Audio CD, Reference DVD and Reference Tone Generator to create .WAVs of any signal at any resolution. APx will tell you which signal to use for each test or you can use your own. If you’re creating a sequence, you can add a custom text prompt or image for each step of the sequence.
Dolby / DTS Confidence Testing
Evaluate readiness for Dolby/DTS certification quickly and easily before committing time & resources to the official certification procedure. APx configures itself for all the required tests in the Dolby and DTS Certification Requirement using the actual Dolby Autotest 2.0 DVD and the DTS test DVDs. All you have to do is follow the on-screen prompts, then compare your results to the Certification Requirement. Results are ready for export in the format specified by Dolby and DTS.
