2700 Series Dual Domain Audio Analyzer

The 2700 Series is designed for audio engineers who need the highest performance, lowest distortion and greatest flexibility possible in their audio analyzer. It has the best performance of any audio analyzer in the world.

2700 series instruments are available in four configurations.

SYS-2722-192k offers analog and digital inputs and outputs with sample rates to 192 kHz, DSP analysis of both digital and internally-converted analog signals, DSP-generated digital and analog signals, and low-distortion, hardware-implemented generation and analysis for analog signals. SYS-2702 offers analog input and output, with low-distortion hardware-implemented signal generation and analysis. It has no digital I/O capabilities.

Internal Options

 
GPIB
Adds the IEEE-488 interface to any of the four 2700 series configurations.

 
BUR
Adds analog-domain generation of burst sine waves with controllable burst duration, interval and amplitude between bursts. It also includes analog-generated square waves to 20 kHz, analog random and pseudorandom white and pink noise, and bandpass-filtered pink noise. BUR cannot be fitted to the digital-only SYS-2720.

 

IMD
Tests analog-domain devices for intermodulation distortion to the SMPTE / DIN, CCIF and DIM / TIM standards. IMD cannot be fitted to the digital-only SYS-2720. Note that some BUR- and IMD-type capabilities are already provided in DSP generation and analysis for SYS-2722 and SYS-2712.

 
W&F
Measures analog wow & flutter to the IEC / DIN, NAB, JIS, and scrape flutter standards, weighted or unweighted. W&F cannot be fitted to the digital-only SYS-2720.

 
Standard band-limiting filters
Built in to the analog analyzer in the SYS-2722, SYS-2702 and SYS-2712 configurations. Included are three selectable high pass filters at 22 Hz, 100 Hz, and 400 Hz, and three selectable low pass filters at 22 kHz, 30 kHz and 80 kHz.
 

Option Filters

 

Option filters can be installed in the instrument, adding lowpass, bandpass and psophometric weighting filter capabilities to the standard band-limiting filters included in the analog analyzer. Many option filters are available from stock; up to seven can be installed in an instrument. In operation only one option filter can be selected at a time. Option filters cannot be fitted to the digital-only SYS-2720.

One of two pre-analyzer filters can be installed in the instrument, providing filtering for measurements of signals that include high out-of-band noise, such as DAC outputs.

S-AES17
is one of two available pre-analyzer filters that can be installed in the instrument, providing filtering for measurements of signals that include high out-of-band noise, such as DAC outputs. S-AES17 satisfies the AES17 recommendation for DAC measurement filtering. S-AES17 cannot be fitted to the digital-only SYS-2720.

OPT-2020

is similar to S-AES17, with a sharper pre-analyzer cutoff. OPT-2020 cannot be fitted to the digital-only SYS-2720.

OPT-2711 Dolby Digital Option
a dds the capability for real-time encoding of SYS-2722 generator stimuli signals into a Dolby Digital (AC-3) bitstream for decoder testing and verification.

 

 

Accessories

Auxiliary instruments  

Auxiliary instruments can be connected to an Audio Precision audio analyzer. These include

AUX-0025
Switching Amplifier Measurement Filter. Switching amplifiers (also called switch-mode, Class D or digital amplifiers) often present high levels of out-of-band noise to an analyzer input, overwhelming the analyzer front-end. The AUX-0025 filter solves this problem by conditioning the signal for measurement.

SWR-2755
 switcher series instruments expand the 2-channel analog input or output of a 2700 series instrument to 12 channels, switched under software control. switchers can be cascaded for up to 192 switched inputs and outputs.

DCX-127
Multifunction Module adds measurement capability to a standard audio measurement instrument including DC voltage and resistance measurement, programmable DC bias supplies, and utility static control inputs and outputs.

PSIA-2722
Programmable Serial Interface Adapter facilitates the connection of chip-level devices, such as analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters and sample-rate converters to a SYS-2722 audio analyzer instrument.

 

 
Accessories  

Accessories specific to the 2700 series include:
