Notes from the Test Bench
By Bruce Hofer, Chairman & Co-Founder, Audio Precision Hello This is Bruce Hofer from Audio Precision. There's a lot going on this month at AP, and I'm sure there is with you too, so I'll be brief. First, we had over a thousand responses to our survey on the future of audio test last month - thank you all very much for your input. We've tabulated the responses and you can see the results for yourself here. Next, I'd like to introduce the ATS-2 / 2700 Quicktest, a new application developed by our technical support group that makes it much easier and faster to test playback only devices such as cell phones and personal music players. Quicktest is a macro that launches a simplified interface for our ATS-2 and 2700 Series audio analyzers, with easy-to-understand results for a series of common audio tests. Just set the pass/ fail limits once, upload our proprietary multitone into the device under test, and non-technical users can perform the tests just as effectively as an experienced audio engineer. It's perfect for production line testing where you need the accuracy of AP hardware, but don't have the qualified staff to run tests all day. Click here to go to the Technote section of our website and download the Quicktest Technote (registration required). Anyone going to NAB Las Vegas in April or AES Paris in May? We'll be there. Stop by and discuss your audio test challenges with our technical staff. Thanks for your time, we hope you put the Quicktest to good use, and see you at the shows.
