Error 1172 when using the APx LabVIEW driver with Windows Vista

Question:

I just installed the APx v2.3 LabVIEW driver and the APx500 v2.3 software. When I try to run the LabVIEW example VIs in the getting started guide on the APx Resources Disc, error number 1172 is generated. What is wrong?

Answer:

Due to security settings in Windows Vista, when editing any LabVIEW VI that references APx500, you must run LabVIEW as an Administrator. See this knowledge base article from National Instruments:

Similarly, when compiling your VI, you must modify a .manifest file for proper security settings.  Follow the instructions found in this article from National Instruments:
